The Purchased Cost Adjustment (PCA) is an adjustment made to the electric bill to reflect the true cost of power purchased from the City of Medford's power provider. The cost reflects the increase/decrease in the electric utility cost of power purchased wholesale. The number is based on cost of fuel for generation. You will see this as a separate line item on each Medford Utility bill.
The Purchased Cost Adjustment is computed by multiplying the amount charged by the number of kilowatt hours used. For example, if the amount charged is $0.0345, and 1,000 kWh were used during the billing period, the Purchased Cost Adjustment would be $34.50.
