Water

The City of Medford Water Utility provides water service to approximately 2,200 customers located within the City limits.

Residential customers consume approximately 45% of total annual water sales with the remaining portion being consumed by commercial, industrial and public users. The Public Service Commission (PSC) of Wisconsin maintains regulatory review and approval authority over matters pertaining to major capital improvements, accounting, financial reporting, user rates and other procedures.

In 1997 the Water Utility installed a SCADA System (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) to monitor its five wells and two water towers.

In 1999 the Water Utility developed Well #11, a new well, installing sodium hypochlorite disinfection; thus eliminating chlorine gas disinfection and establishing a new test bench for testing meters as required by the Public Service Commission.

In 2003 the City erected its second water tower, a third tower construction will begin in 2021.
