Incorporated in 1889, the City is governed by a Mayor-Council form of government. Two alderpersons are elected to 2-year terms in alternating years in each of the 4 districts. The Mayor is elected to a term of 2 years. The City Council normally meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
