Summary of Water Rates

The following is a summary of rates for the Medford Water Utility as authorized by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.

These rates went into effect on January 1, 2022.

Prompt Payment of Bills: A charge of 3%, but not less than 50¢ will be added to bills not paid within 20 days from the date of issuance. This charge is applicable to all customers.

Public Fire Protection Service Fd-1

Under Wisconsin Statutes, s. 196.03(3)(b), the municipality has chosen to have the Water Utility bill the retail general service customers for public fire protection.

This service shall include the use of hydrants for fire protection service only and such quantities of water as may be demanded for the purpose of extinguishing fires within the service area. This service shall also include water used for testing equipment and training personnel. For all other purposes, the metered or other rates set forth, as may be filed with the Public Service Commission shall apply.

Fire Protection–Unmetered Upf-1

This service shall consist of unmetered connections to the main for automatic sprinkler systems, standpipes, (where same are connected permanently or continuously to the mains) and private fire hydrants.

Additional Meter Rental Am-1

This rate shall be applied to customers that request the installation of a second meter to receive credit for clear water not entering the sanitary sewer system, or if a sewer service customer, who is not a customer of the water utility, requests installation of a meter to determine the amount of sewage discharged into the sanitary sewer system. This rate shall be applied only to single-family residential and small commercial customers.
